Biography

Andrea Guttmann teaches recorder and recorder ensemble at the University of Music, Theater and Visual Arts “Mozarteum” in Salzburg.

From 1998 to 2014 she toured intensively with the Ensemble QNG – Quartet New Generation in Europe, the USA, South America and Asia. This ensemble was founded in Amsterdam and was awarded top prizes at the International Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition in Rotterdam, the International Competition for Contemporary Music in Poland, the International Chamber Music Competition in France and the prestigious Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York. She was directing the Ensemble for Late Medieval Music Via Artis for several years.

Her major interest is chamber music and consort playing. A set of Renaissance recorders (copy of consort instruments by Schnitzer) made by Adriana Breukink will be present and playable.

Andrea Guttmann studied the recorder with Carin van Heerden at the University of Mozarteum and at Amsterdam Conservatory with Walter van Hauwe. Additionally she studied Late Medieval polyphony with Pedro Memelsdorff at the Civica Scuola di Musica in Milan and at the Catalonian School of Music ESMUC in Barcelona. She has been awarded a Special Prize by the Austrian Perfomers‘ Society, the Culture Prize of the City of Hallein and the Lilly Lehmann Medal of the International Foundation Mozarteum. She lives in Salzburg.
